iPhone how to: Making conference calls
Communicating with the iPhone is easier and you can talk with more than one person at a time, or merge up to five calls, depending on your service provider.
Note that conference calling may be an optional service in some countries. Contact your carrier for more information.
How to create a conference call:
1. Make a call.
2. Tap Add Call and make another call. The first call is put on hold.
3. Tap Merge Calls. The calls are merged onto one line and everyone can hear each other.
4. Repeat steps two and three to add up to five calls.
How to drop one call:
Tap Conference and tap next to a call. Then tap End Call.
How to talk privately with a call:
Tap Conference, then tap Private next to a call. Tap Merge Calls to resume to conference.
How to add an incoming call:
Tap Hold Call + Answer, then tap Merge Calls.
If your service includes conference calling, iPhone always has a second line available in addition to the conference call.

Apollo 11 iPhone game app: Embark on a historic mission to the moon
Screenshot of Apollo 11: The Game
Forty years ago on July 16, Apollo 11 blasted off into space with astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins on a historic mission to the moon. They landed on the moon’s surface on July 20… and the rest is history.
This historic event is now remembered via the iPhone game app Apollo 11: The Game by Decode Interactive.
Promising to offer players a chance to relive the moments Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins made their way the satellite’s surface, the iPhone game features seven levels, and every aspect of the mission from launch to splashdown. The game marks the 40th anniversary of an important event in the history of space mission, when mankind finally conquered the moon.
Players will be able to train for missions with the infamous Flying Bedstead, control a selection of spaceships using the accelerometer, extract the Lunar Module and perform the notoriously dangerous midcourse corrections.
Jean-Guy Niquet, technical lead at Decode Interactive said: “The moon landing is a defining moment in human history so we’re excited to be working with NASA on this project. Their collaboration is essential in developing a standout game that uses as much authentic detail possible to recreate the experience of man’s first trip to the moon.”

Pinoy video game developer targets the iPhone
Anino Games, one of the oldest video game developers in the Philippines, targets the iPhone for their upcoming projects. The company has already developed the game Turbo Subs for the iPhone and it even became a top 10 most downloaded game in the Apple App Store. CEO Niel Dagondon said this game was their first venture for the iPhone and it was a success. Thus, after Turbo Subs, developing more games for the App Store was just expected.
Dagondon said the company already has two other games that it is developing for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. With over 70,000 iPhone apps vying for user attention, it will be a challenge for developers to come up with unique, interesting and engaging apps that would ultimately result to more downloads and more loyal users.
He attributes the device’s success as a game platform to its touch screen sensitivity. Likewise, the iPhone’s operating system allows developers to create just one “build” of an application that will run on all iPhones.
“The iPhone is a great platform to develop for. It has moderate graphical and processing capabilities. Having touch screen input is something everyone can use,” Dagondon said.
On other mobile phones video game and software developers have to create separate builds of the same program to run on different mobile phones, even if they are running on the same operating system.
By reducing the time to build different versions of the same game, game developers can focus on creating various games for a single platform. He also said it is cheaper working on the iPhone since applications can be downloaded from a central source, the Apple App Store.
“Our developers were able to be up and running only after three days of research. To develop for the iPhone platform, we only needed a Macintosh computer and an iPhone,” Dagondon said.

Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone app: An e-book lover’s dream come true
Book lovers, like Tatin Yang, are finding a different way of enjoying the reading experience with e-books. As a certified bookworm, Tatin learned to love books at a young age. She was not that enthusiastic about reading electronic books until Amazon’s e-book reader Kindle came out. This device, at less than two inches thick, can hold up to approximately 1,500 books, giving access to a portable library anywhere. What makes it appealing to Tatin is the e-ink electronic display Kindle uses, which simulates the ink on paper appearance, thus the reading experience is more ‘natural’.
However, with the Kindle for iPhone app, her love affair with e-books is even rosier.

However, with the Kindle for iPhone app, her love affair with e-books is even rosier.
Now, aside from music, videos and games, I can read books off my iPhone. Even better, with a working mobile Internet connection, you can download samples of the e-book you’ve been eyeing, read a chapter or two, and then be able to purchase it right from your phone! It’s like having a bookstore and library wherever you are. Talk about a dream come true! For Tatin, e-books don’t mean the death of the paper format. They just offer the convenience of “being able to read anywhere without the added bulk,” which to her is such a huge relief as she considers herself a pack rat.
